Tradition
Clerical Medical was founded in Britain in 1824 to serve the needs of the clerics and medics - ministers of religion and doctors were the professionals of their day. As other professions developed, they too were attracted to Clerical Medical. Today we can boast over 180 years of experience, and are one of the world’s oldest life insurance companies.
The official seal and crest of Clerical Medical was unveiled in 1825, and the motto ‘Cavendo Tutus’ means ‘safe through taking care’.
Clerical Medical’s reputation has attracted some famous investors, including Queen Victoria, (whose life was first insured by Clerical Medical in 1834) and her husband Prince Albert.
CMI Insurance Company Limited is Clerical Medical's specialist offshore insurer based in the Isle of Man. |
